With several poker rooms opening doors for visitors and players, PokerStars announced that the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) as well as European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona has been postponed until 2021. Additionally, other events like Road to PSPC Cannes in France, the Road to PSPC Madrid in Spain and the Manilla Super Series 14 have all been taken off the PokerStars schedule.

The press release stated, “It is with great regret that PokerStars has postponed to 2021 the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) 2020 and EPT Barcelona. The events were due to be held at Casino Barcelona, Spain in August this year. The PSPC will still take place at Casino Barcelona, although new dates for 2021 have yet to be confirmed.”

The first-ever PSPC was held in January 2019 when the high roller event attracted a massive field of 1,039 runners to become the largest field in an event with a buy-in of $25K or more. Players were looking forward to PSPC in August 2020 at Casino Barcelona. “We realize that this news will come as a disappointment to many, but we know you will understand and appreciate why this is necessary. Our priority is the safety and good health of all our players and staff, as well as the communities that host such large events,” said Managing Director at The Stars Group Séverin Rasset in the release. “While we cannot provide exact dates at this time, we do know that the PSPC will be back bigger and better in 2021 at Casino Barcelona. Until then, we will focus on creating a life changing and memorable PokerStars experience for when we are safe and together again.”

Tournaments are a regular feature in The Poker Room, taking place daily, with buy-ins from £30 upwards. Most evening tournaments start at 7pm. Late registration is available once play is underway and space permitting, players can buy in during the first two hours of play. The conference has been moved a couple of months in order to allow more recovery time

Conference organizer Clarion Games has been thinking ahead and making quick decisions to ensure that its flagship ICE London 2021 show can run without problems. Therefore, the company has issued an “advanced notice” to everyone with an interest in this event to inform them of the decision to move the dates of the gambling event from early February 2021 to April 2021. According to managing director Kate Chambers, the decision was made after several discussions undertaken with the “market,” which evidenced clear concerns about the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on mass gathering events.

“As the Clarion Gaming brands exist to satisfy the needs of the market – exhibitors, delegates and speakers – we have moved the 2021 dates to April 20/21/22 once again at the ExCeL London Exhibition Centre,” Chambers said in a statement. Meanwhile, the conference at London’s Docklands Excel Centre is still scheduled for the same established date; however, the company is still working on the necessary steps to determine how to alter the conference’s capacity and exhibitor requirements to follow health and safety measures.

At present, in the UK, all business exhibitions and conferences are still prohibited. Just recently, the venues classified as nightclubs, theatres, casinos and indoor music halls were the last ones to reopen. These events might be permitted soon, as, this past June, the government established a group to be in charge of gathering advice on how to reopen these venues safely while following social distancing orders. UK trade exhibitions are currently overseen by MP Nigel Huddleston, the Heritage and Tourism Secretary reporting to DCMS.
