Diamond Jo Casino temporarily closes

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered the temporary closure of all casinos in the state of Iowa as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to a press release.

While there have been no reported cases at the property, based on the governor’s order Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood closed at noon Tuesday. This closure will impact all public operations, including the casino, restaurants and event center. It expects to remain closed through March 31.

Customers with events scheduled at Diamond Jo during the closure period should call 877-323-5566 for information and assistance. The business will provide additional updates as they become available.

Diamond Jo Casino announced this week it will reopen to the public on Monday, subject to final regulatory approval.

Gaming operations will resume at 8 a.m. Monday, along with a limited number of amenities, according to a press release. The property will temporarily operate with limited capacity in compliance with state directives.

Henson, senior vice president of operations for Boyd Gaming. “We will meet this commitment by following a comprehensive set of safety protocols that fully meet the most stringent requirements set by local, state and federal officials.

Hansen said he is excited to welcome back guests and staff, and remains committed to offering Diamond Jo customers a memorable and fun entertainment experience in a safe environment.

Upon re-opening, Diamond Jo Casino will practice a set of comprehensive protocols aimed at protecting the health and safety of its team members and guests, including the following:

• Mandatory face coverings and temperature checks for all team members

• Social distancing requirements and capacity restrictions across all customer and team member areas, including casino floors and restaurants

• Enhanced cleaning and sanitation of all high-touch surfaces, including door handles, gaming machines, table games, handrails and elevator buttons

• Increased placement of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout properties
